Dr. Ming-Tuo ZHOU received his bachelor degree in applied physics from Hunan University in 1997, his master degree in optics communications from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2000, and his Ph.D degree in telecommunications from Asian Institute of Technology in 2003. He was a research specialist of the Finland Government Program, Asian Institute of Technology during January to June 2004. In July 2004, he joined the Wireless Communications Laboratory of National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) and now is a research scientist.

He served as co-editor of two books, co-chairs or committee member of technical programs of several international conferences/workshops. He is reviewer of more than ten international journals and conferences. He was awarded the Finland Government Scholarship during 2001 to 2003 and is the recipient of the Price of Finnish Universities of Technology & Helsinki Consulting Group in 2003. He is now a seniror member of IEEE and treasurer of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Chapter Singapore Session. Since March 2011, he is co-chair of IEEE 802.16n Rapporteur Group of Mobile Direct Communication.

His current research interest includes greater reliable metropolitan area networks (IEEE 802.16n), wireless ad hoc/mesh networks, cognitive radios, maritime broadband wireless communications and radio-over-fiber communications.
